Antonio was piss poor today and hasn’t been anywhere he’s best for a few games now.
I take no pleasure in criticism the bloke as he’s earlier form and most of last season was impeccable.
It’s essential we splash out to bring in a proven striker in January.
You can’t blame a frustrating performance alone on Antonio as we were poor yet again in the final third.
We should be beating Burnley and the likes if we stand any chance of a top four place.

Most of the season we’ve struggled to break teams down - especially away from home.

In that case, can you explain, why we have the same number of away from home, as at home?

Today was just an extension of that.

Should have sorted out the forward options in the summer but now it needs addressing in January.

In a game like today Antonio's movement in the box is shown up a bit. Number of times we played in the kind of balls top strikers thrive on...byline cutbacks from the edge of the 6 yard box, or like Rice's between defence and keeper, but his instinct is lacking to make the most of it.

He was either late to react or didn't get in front of his man.

Only positive is Dawson and Diop look like our best CB partnership.

Others are better individually - but these two work best together.

I think you and I (and everyone else) knows the answer to that question.

The irony is that salah is a known diver and STILL gets away with it.

Against sides who sit back, that's where we struggle. In fact average teams do to us what we do to the bigger sides!

If this was a one off that would be fine but taken with the Wolves and Brighton performances it's a pattern of not being creative enough against bang average teams

Re: ⚽ Burnley v West Ham - Official Match Thread
I think the fact that many are disappointed at a 0-0 at Burnley shows how far the team has come. Wasn't so long ago Burnley were bullying us in every game and protests and a corner flag stuck in the centre circle were the highlights!

‘We should all be very happy so far this season.’

Not seen anyone on here who isn’t. People have just displayed disappointment at another missed opportunity against a bottom half club, and the obvious flaws we have in the squad that needs improving to build on what has been achieved so far. It is a forum for that sort of discussion, after all.

We got a draw and a clean sheet at Burnley

We sit 4th

Spurs have 2 games in hand and need to lose 1 for us to still be above them

Their next 2 are away at Leicester and home to Liverpool

It all looks pretty good at the moment with 16 played and 22 left to play

January is soon upon us and we will get reinforcements even if just on loan to the end of the season.

We should all be very happy so far this season.

Anyone not or thinks they could do better should offer their services to professional football, they would make a killing either playing or managing.

If Haller had been there Tarkowski would have roughed him up and he wouldn't want to know!

Can anybody tell me the difference between the Dawson incident and the Salah incident? In both cases the player stepped across the other player. McNeil made contact with Dawson and he went down no penalty. Salah deliberately stepped across Mings looking to get the penalty and with very little contact collapsed in a heap. Result penalty to Liverpool. My own opinion is neither was a penalty as both Salah and Dawson stepped across the defenders. Tye referees in England are a disgrace and completely in the pocket of the big teams.

“In fact, to not be pissed, suggests a weak, dreary, defeatist character - much like yours”

Spot on. We should be beating teams like that and we should be demanding better from the players.

Poni, shame you have a character weakness that stops you from manning up to a result.

Would you like me to put you in touch with a spine strengthening counsellor?

Antonio is clearly out of form.

Happens to good strikers at other clubs too.

Only other clubs have someone to step into the boots of their misfiring strikers...

Dr Matt, I doubt your Spurs squad can smell anything seeing as they've all got covid......

I was at the match this afternoon and Antonio was definitely off the pace. With a proven finisher, we’d have won easily although a few other people also missed good chances.

On a lighter note, Rice was outstanding, the defence solid and Masuaku was not the liability I feared he might be at LB.

Onwards and upwards ⚒
